False customs clearance documents, case referred to SPAK/ Beja: OLAF has been

The General Directorate of Customs has recently referred to the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), a case related to the use of forged documents, presented as issued by Albanian authorities, for the implementation of fictitious customs clearance and export operations from European Union countries.

" Albanian Customs has referred to SPAK a matter related to the use of forged documents, presented as issued by Albanian authorities, for the implementation of fictitious customs clearance and export operations from European Union countries. Given that materials similar to those of the official Albanian customs administration were used in this scheme, the matter has been referred to SPAK, while at the same time the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) has been notified, with the aim of investigating and cracking down on this activity, which mainly violates the financial interests of the European Union ," said Beja.

He stated that during this period, Albanian Customs has also made public a series of cases of cracking down on illegality, such as in the Port of Durres, Tirana International Airport, but also in other customs branches, where, in cooperation with the State Police, not only violations in the customs field have been prevented and cracked down on, but also cases related to possible drug trafficking.

" During this period, we have made public a series of cases of cracking down on illegality at the Port of Durres, at the Tirana International Airport and at other customs points, where, in cooperation with the State Police, we have prevented and cracked down not only on violations in the customs field, but also on cases related to possible drug trafficking. In each case, the relevant referrals have been made to the competent authorities, both in the prosecutor's offices of general jurisdiction and in the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK), according to competence, " said Beja.

In conclusion, he reiterated that the Albanian Customs Administration remains committed to responsibly fulfilling its law enforcement mission, cooperating closely with local institutions and international partners to prevent and combat any form of illegality at the borders of the Republic of Albania.
