"We will increase the age for free check-ups" - Rama in Gjirokastra:

Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader Edi Rama, during a meeting with pensioners in the city of Gjirokastra, declared that the age for free check-ups will be increased.

"We have another thing that is a request from many pensioners to increase the age for free check-ups. We will do this, we will increase the age for free check-ups. Check-ups, which have been very popular, have shown that they have been valuable in preventing diseases by giving people information that they need to take care of this or that event in their body. In this way, I believe that in general, we cannot pay off our debt to you, it is great that the place that the new generations have for you, but at least, everything we have is possible, and every new opportunity that is created, we have put and will put at your disposal," said Rama.

Speaking about increasing pensions, Rama accused today's opposition of turning pensions into assistance when they were in power.

"They did it to those who are complaining about the plight of pensioners today. Before the reform, two serious things happened. The first, as you know, was the destruction of the entire production base of the country, they were all put out on the streets and 40-year-olds were called pensioners and a ceiling of 240 thousand old lek was set, and if you jumped up, you couldn't exceed the ceiling, regardless of how much insurance you had. So the pension turned into assistance, it wasn't a pension. What happened? As someone who had no contributions, like Suzana, the ceiling was that much. And the old lady came out with the ceiling of 24 thousand lek. Today, with the indexations made year after year, she has a pension of 350 euros. Meanwhile, the other old lady who came out after the reform, we removed the ceiling and placed the contributory base at the foundation of the pension scheme, and the other old lady, in relation to her contributions, although she has the same years, has a higher pension, 380 euros. These were two "The different pension policies between us and those who come are a problem for pensioners," Rama said.

According to Rama, the average salary for teachers has increased from 330 euros to around 1,000 euros currently, while the objective is to reach 1,200 euros by 2030.
