The customs administration has found a number of violations in the circulation of goods and businesses throughout 2024.

Official data from this institution show that during the period from January 1 to December 31, the Investigation Directorate, based on information from other DPD structures, or on cases initiated mainly after the collection of data and the performance of preliminary actions, on the basis of reasonable suspicions of the commission of criminal offenses provided for in the criminal legislation in the field of customs for evasion of customs duties or excise duties, has prepared and sent to the Prosecution Body during this period a total of 33 criminal reports/referrals, among which criminal offenses related to smuggling and concealment of income are the most prominent.

Additionally, 14 customs violations and administrative offenses were found, with avoided customs duties of 844 thousand lek and penalties of 2.6 million lek.

87 customs smuggling violations were also found with avoided customs duties worth 32.3 million lek and a penalty of 118 million lek.

On the other hand, 101 pieces of information have been sent to the Customs Branches for decision-making, regarding entities or persons who have committed administrative/criminal violations.

In total, the customs duty evaded by entities and citizens amounts to 33.1 million lek, the penalty to 120.5 million lek, and the total value results in 153.7 million lek. Or about 1.5 million euros.
