Which cities registered the most businesses? - In Albania, 845 fewer businesses were opened in 2024

From Tirana as the main economic center, to smaller cities with unique potential, entrepreneurs are finding space to innovate and invest in different businesses and sectors. But what is the business situation in Albanian cities?
In 2024, referring to Open Data Albania data, a total of 17,458 businesses were registered, which is less than in 2023, in which 18,303 such businesses were registered throughout Albania.
Tirana, as the capital of business and technology, closed 2024 with 674 registered businesses. A big difference is seen with 2023, where the capital 2 years ago registered a total of 8655 businesses. The second city that registered the most businesses for the year we left behind is Durrës, which registered 232 such, but in 2023 1885 businesses were registered.
But the development of tourism and the increase in the number of tourists has affected the number of businesses in coastal cities. According to data, Vlora is the third city with the highest number of business registrations. For 2024, 230 such were registered, while in 2023, a boom in new businesses was recorded, reaching 1807 such.
Also, the tourist development in the city of Shkodra has influenced the growth of businesses, where for 2024 a total of 150 were registered, but in 2023 they reached 949 new businesses. But, cities that do not have a direct focus on tourism have not been left behind. Cities like Fier, which is ranked with 149 registered businesses for 2024, while in the previous two years 1093 such were registered.
Then cities like Lezha, Berat, Korça, Dibra, etc. have had the lowest numbers of new business registrations during 2024.
