At the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs and Defense, Defense Minister Pirro Vëngu, while presenting the 2026 draft budget for the ministry he leads, stated that the aim is to rebuild the Aviation School in Vlora and that this capacity will be built through cooperation with an Israeli company.
“We intend to re-establish the Aviation School in Vlora, where it was, initially with capacities for helicopter pilots. We need approximately 30 pilots by 2030 and 50 military air traffic controllers by 2030. ”
But, during his speech, Minister Vëngu said that two more firefighting aircraft will be produced specifically for Albania.
To continue with the trilateral Kosovo-Croatia-Albania agreement, Vengu said that a plan of measures has been approved that the three ministries of Defense will follow for the development of joint capacities and that the development of a capacity of armored vehicles produced in our country has been proposed.
Among other things, Minister Vëngu also focused on the 5 priorities of the Ministry of Defense, starting from human capital, operational readiness, modernization and domestic industry, civil protection and community safety, as well as digitalization and innovation.
