Tirana Bypass, costs for the first 8.5 km revealed - ARRSH announces the winners for the Kashar-Vaqarr Intersection segment, will cost 5.9 billion lek
The construction of the first 8.5 kilometers of the Tirana bypass will cost about 4.9 billion lek, excluding VAT or about 5.9 billion lek, including Value Added Tax. After phase II, the Albanian Road Authority has announced the winning company for phase I of the Kashar – Vaqarr Interchange segment. For this lot, the winner was announced as the 4 AM company, with a bid of 2.63 billion lek, excluding VAT, while a few days ago the winner for lot II was also announced, which was the merger of the operators “Elmazaj Konstruksion” & “INC SPA”.
The total length of the Tirana bypass is 21.6 kilometers, and it is considered one of the most important road projects in the country, as it aims to directly connect the Durrës - Tirana highway with the Tirana - Elbasan highway, avoiding entry into the capital.
Although full completion will require tendering for the rest of the road, the construction of the Kashar to Mullet segment will mark the completion of all segments of the Milot–Fier axis, part of the Adriatic–Ionian Highway. This is because one of the lots of this highway (Kashar – Lekaj) also includes 7 of the 8.5 kilometers tendered for the bypass.
The Milot-Fier highway, one of the most important road infrastructure projects in the country, is progressing at different paces in its five lots. With a total length of 114 kilometers, this highway is part of the Adriatic-Ionian Corridor and includes the connection of a number of segments, which are currently in various stages of construction or tendering.
The most advanced segment is the Thumanë–Kashar segment, with a length of 21 kilometers, where the works have been completed and it is open to traffic. Meanwhile, the other three segments: Milot – Thumanë, Kashar – Lekaj and Lekaj – Fier are also contracted for construction and the companies are in the process of securing permits to start the works. All four of these segments will be implemented through concession contracts. The case of the Tirana bypass, which will be built with direct financing from the state budget, is different.
