Berlin: Ibrahimaj signs agreement on innovation – Tirana aims to become a regional technology hub

The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, paid an official visit to Berlin where she signed the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) with the Mayor and Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises of Berlin, Franziska Giffey.
The declaration establishes a structured framework for cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Albania and the Berlin Senate Department, with a focus on strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, supporting startups and increasing the competitiveness of businesses.
"The signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent represents an important step in strengthening economic relations between Albania and Berlin, as well as in accelerating Albania's integration into the European space of innovation and scientific research," said Minister Ibrahimaj.
According to her, there are three main pillars on which cooperation will be based:
1. Building capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship
Exchange of experiences on policies for startups, financial instruments, the creation of innovation centers and support for youth and women's entrepreneurship.
2. Connecting businesses and ecosystems
Organizing structured B2B and B2I visits, participating in international fairs and creating bridges of cooperation between Albanian startups and the Berlin ecosystem.
3. Support for the European integration process
Development of joint projects and applications for funding in European Union programs, including Horizon Europe, the Digital Europe Programme and the instruments of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
This collaboration will be developed within the framework of the Ecosystem Connectors Berlin - Sarajevo - Tirana initiative and aims to position Tirana as an emerging regional hub for innovation and technology.
