Vocational education is gaining ground/ Over 4 thousand students enroll in the first year

In the first grade of vocational secondary schools alone, over 4 thousand students are enrolled. This number, which is increasing year by year, shows a new trend among young Albanians, who are looking to their future beyond universities, choosing concrete professions that bring them closer to the labor market. Thanks to the reforms that have been undertaken in modern investments, laboratories and qualified staff, the target is expected to reach 1 in 3 students pursuing vocational education by 2030.
Although left in the shadows for years, vocational education is now taking on another dimension. New programs are combining theoretical knowledge with practical training, helping students who want to quickly enter the job market or build a sustainable career.
Meanwhile, there is also an increase in interest in the hospitality and tourism branches, also due to the collaborative program VET by EHL, with the Swiss hotel and tourism school, EHL, known for its high standards.
But in addition to the hotel-tourism profile, vocational education schools offer different profiles such as technology and information, culinary, electrical and mechanical, etc. Secondary vocational education offers individuals the opportunity to qualify at levels II, III and IV of the Albanian Qualifications Framework, preparing them from qualified employees to intermediate technicians in the relevant field of study. Public secondary vocational education institutions offer 26 study directions and 93 different profiles, of which 5 are dual profiles.
