Employment by sectors, Fier leads in agriculture/ The number of employees in industry increased by 6.4%
Data from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) provide a detailed overview of the distribution of employment by main sectors of the Albanian economy during 2024. The results show a clear division of the workforce between agriculture, industry and services, with differences according to the regions of the country.
A total of about 432 thousand people are employed in the agricultural sector. Salaries in this sector remain among the lowest, ranging between 40 and 50 thousand lek per month, which reflects the difficulties and seasonal nature of agricultural work. In terms of division, the Fier region holds the lead with about 75 thousand workers, followed by Elbasan and Berat, while Lezha has the smallest number of employees in this field.
The industry sector registered a total of 241 thousand employees during 2024. Tirana ranks first with 93 thousand employees, reflecting the high development of manufacturing and construction activities in the capital. In addition to Tirana, Fier and Durrës also record high employment figures in this sector, while fewer employees are counted in Dibër and Kukës. According to INSTAT data, this sector has experienced the largest increase in employment compared to 2023, becoming one of the main engines of job creation.
Meanwhile, the services sector represents the largest share of the country's labor market, with a total of 503 thousand employees. Tirana continues to hold the leading role, thanks to the concentration of economic activities and administration, followed by Durrës and Elbasan. This employment structure reflects the fact that services are the dominant segment of the Albanian economy, absorbing the largest part of the labor force.
