Action in flour, milk and meat factories - Gjylameti: We guarantee food safety, strengthen infrastructure

Starting next week, the National Food Authority will launch an inspection campaign focused on flour factories and bakeries, in the dairy processing sector and in the meat by-products sector.
During a meeting with NQA inspectors across the country, Director Blerina Gjylameni emphasized that the annual risk plan will be reviewed and the focus of inspections will be on the most problematic sectors. On the other hand, she emphasized that infrastructure will be strengthened in parallel, especially at border crossing points.
"After flour, milk, we have meat by-products since they have a high risk and then we will go through inspections throughout Albania to see how businesses meet the standards and what measures need to be taken, information and training are needed and finally to ensure what we all expect, food safety. No work can be done if we do not have the infrastructure, therefore a project has been undertaken to improve the infrastructure at border inspection points, where there will be full and partial inspections at several points as well as investments in 7 main laboratories."
Meanwhile, the Chief Inspector General, Dashnor Sula, emphasized that inspectors must have zero tolerance for abuses and ensure the maximum quality of the products we consume.
"Zero tolerance towards entities that violate the law regarding pesticides. You are the guarantors to control everything and not allow any domestic product to be at the proper level. In all production, dairy, meat, quality is the main thing. If there are businesses that try to change the label on the eve of the expiration of a product, you must prevent them."
The Chief Inspector also stated that by the end of the year, a fully digitalized inspection system is expected to be in place so that the procedure is standardized and transparent throughout the country.
