550 million euros for railways - The 2025 budget increases by 75 million euros,

The budget for the railway sector will increase by 75 million euros during the year 2025. According to the document deposited in the Assembly, the funding reaches 550 million euros, from 475 million euros that was this year.

The vast majority of funds are foreign financing, including grants and loans. In total, investments with foreign financing reach about 500 million euros, of which 150 million euros are grants from the Investment Framework of the Western Balkans, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development or the European Investment Bank. 

In total, there are 3 projects that will be financed, although they are divided into 6 different items.

The first project is the railway line Tirana - Durrës - Rinas, including the construction of station buildings and its electrification, with a value of about 350 million euros.

Another railway project is the Vorë - Hani I Hotit railway, for which 100 million euros have been allocated. Meanwhile, the third project is "Rehabilitation of the Durrës-Rrogozhinë railway line, with 50 million euros.

Meanwhile, through internal financing, the amount needed to cover the VAT was allocated, according to the loan contract for the first 2 projects. Referring to the progress of the works, Albanian Railways has stated that the works for the rehabilitation of the Tirana - Durrës - Rinas line are expected to be completed next year.

It is also expected that the constructions for the line Vorë - Hani i Hoti will begin, while at a less advanced stage for the line from Durrës to Rrogozhinë.
