5 municipalities in partial elections - 334,539 citizens head to the ballot

Around 334,539 citizens in 5 municipalities of the country have the right to go to the ballot boxes to elect the new mayors of the municipalities of Vlora, Berat, Tepelena, Mat and Cerrik.

In the city of Vlora, 171,895 citizens are eligible to vote and will vote in 232 polling stations, divided according to residential areas. The race in this municipality is between Brunilda Mersini, candidate of the Socialist Party, and Dionis Sota, an independent candidate with the support of the opposition, as well as Gjergji Nika, also an independent candidate.

In Berat, 82,161 residents will vote in 116 polling stations. The current mayor-elect, Ervin Ceca, represents the Socialist Party, while facing him is independent candidate Pavlo Shkarpa.

In Tepelena, 12,667 voters will cast their ballots in 22 polling stations. The race is between Gramoz Sako, the candidate of the Socialist majority, and Gabriel Guma, an independent candidate with the support of the Democrats.

In the Municipality of Mati, 29,092 citizens will vote in 47 polling stations. This municipality has one of the most unique races, with three candidates in the field. The Socialist Party candidate is Altin Bojni, while the former president of the local socialist women's forum, Suzana Pasha, has decided to run as an independent, challenging the official proposal of the SP. On the other hand, the opposition and the Democratic Party support the independent candidacy of Eduart Brahilika.

In Cërrik, according to CEC data, there are 38,724 citizens with the right to vote, who will vote in 57 polling stations. Here too, the race includes three candidates: Florenc Doka from the Socialist Party, Amarildo Hoxha, an independent candidate with the support of the DP, and Eligert Hima, who is running under the party's slogan "Lëvizja Shqipëria Bëhet".

The State Police has drafted a special plan of measures to guarantee order and security during this Sunday and the counting process.
