42 billion lek for road transport - The main projects where the money was spent last year
Expenditures on road transport reached 42 billion lek in 2024, or 100% of the funds planned for this purpose. According to data from the Budget Monitoring Report, the funds include both road maintenance contracts and projects for their construction or rehabilitation.
10.9 billion lek of the funds spent went to the construction of a 4-lane A-type road. Some of the important facilities included in this category are some of the lots of the Tirana Ring Road, which opened for traffic at the end of last year, as well as the expansion of the Tirana - Durrës superhighway, phases I and II.
Regarding the construction of 2-lane B-type roads, the 2 main projects are the Kardhiq - Delvinë road and the expansion of the Elbasan - Qafë Thanë road.
Meanwhile, for type C2 two-lane roads, some funded projects are: Construction of the Palasë - Dhërmi, Korçë - Ersekë road, the Milot - Morinë highway connecting with Kukës Airport, the expansion of the Ksamil road or the construction of the Vlora International Airport connecting with the Fier - Vlora highway.
Also, according to the monitoring report, 762 million lekë were spent on the construction of the Porto Romano - Durrës road. Other expenses include the elimination of black spots, which are a source of accidents, the improvement of horizontal and vertical signage and road safety equipment, as well as 52 contracts for the administration and maintenance of 3606.5 km of national road network.
