Additional 288 million euros in the state budget - Consumption makes the main contribution to growth, followed by social security

In the first 4 months of the year, the state budget has collected around 275.7 billion lek, exceeding the plan for the period by 105.2%.
Compared to the same period a year ago, around 28.8 billion lek or 288 million euros were collected, or 11.7% more.
Tax revenues collected by the tax administration (revenues from net VAT in the country, profit tax, personal income tax, national taxes), for the period January-April 2026, were realized in the amount of 98 billion lek, 6.5 billion lek more than the first four months of 2025, exceeding the plan by 2.3 billion lek.
Revenues from VAT collected (net) had the highest growth, significantly driven by population consumption, reaching 29.5 billion lek, 4 billion lek or 15.7% more than in the first four months of 2025, a realization of 114.5% of the plan. Revenues collected from profit tax were realized at 23.6 billion lek, or 87.4% of the plan for the first four months of 2026. 28.4 billion lek were collected from personal income tax, 1.3 billion lek more than a year ago. 16.4 billion lek were collected from national taxes, with an increase of about 2.1 billion lek. Meanwhile, 66.8 billion lek were collected from social and health insurance, 7.4 billion lek or 12.5% more than the first four months of 2025, and with a realization of 102.8% of the plan.
Revenues collected by the customs administration (revenues from VAT on imports, excise duties, customs duties and mineral royalties) amounted to 73.6 billion lek, 1.2 billion lek more than a year earlier, with a realization of 96.8% of the plan for the 4-month period.
Revenues from VAT on imports amounted to 49.5 billion lek, 1.4% more than a year earlier. Revenues from excise duties amounted to 20.4 billion lek, or 2.2% more than a year earlier and 97.5% of the plan.
Revenues collected from mineral royalties on exports amounted to 600 million lek, and revenues from customs duties, for the period January-April 2026, amounted to 3.1 billion lek.
Total public spending, for the 4-month period of 2026, reached around 221.6 billion lek with a realization of 95.1% of the plan for the period and 12.9 billion lek more than a year earlier.
