2.83 billion lek for the Saranda bypass - New 3.5 km segment, ARRSH prepares tenders for the construction of the road
The construction of the Saranda bypass is expected to cost around 2.83 billion lek. The Albanian Road Authority plans to open tenders divided into 2 phases for companies that will carry out the works on this road axis. The limit fund for phase I is 2 billion lek, while for phase II, around 833 million lek.
The forecast for the development of these tenders comes after last year's procurement procedures for the study and design of the Saranda bypass.
The tender documents for the study of this road work specified that the project should include the construction of a new road segment connecting Qafë Gjashtë with the national road, Saranda - Himarë, leaving open further development towards the connection with the Kardhiq - Delvinë - Saranda road and the Coastal Road.
The new segment is expected to have a length of approximately 3.5 km, including road segments with urban or interurban characteristics, including a tunnel with a length of approximately 800-900 m.
The construction of this axis is expected to solve the traffic problem that occurs during the summer season. According to ARRSH, Saranda is one of the most important coastal tourism cities in Albania and experiences a fourfold increase in population in the summer season with an ever-increasing trend.
Meanwhile, funds for the construction of this road have also been foreseen in the 2025 budget. The total funds made available for this year are 680 million lek.
