19 million mail deliveries in 9 months - AKEP: Albanians used the postal service more in 2024
Albanians sent about 6.6 million objects by mail in the third quarter of 2024. Data from the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority show that citizens sent fewer objects by mail compared to the second quarter of 2024, but more than in the third quarter 2023. A decrease of 0.1% and an increase of 22% respectively.
Albanian Post, which is the only company that offers universal service in Albania, owns 80% of the postal market, while other providers account for only 20%. From the official statistics, it appears that the Albanian Post has sent 5.3 million objects in the period July-September 2023, while other companies have sent only 1.3 million.
The fact that the Albanian Post has a wider range of its branches, i.e. it has full coverage in both urban and rural areas, but also the lower cost of basic services, has made the larger volume of facilities postal service is occupied by the universal postal service with 76%, followed by the express service with 19% and the non-universal service with 5%.
From January to September, over 19 million mail deliveries were made, almost 13% or 2 million more than the nine-month period of 2023, which means that Albanians have used the postal service more during 2024, automatically translated into more profit great for companies operating in this market.
