Montenegro, airports generated over 40 million euros - Half of 2024 profits went to employee salaries
Montenegro's airports generated revenues of 40.7 million euros in 2024, representing an increase of 18% compared to 2023, according to the 2024 financial statement, approved by the government at the last session.
The majority of the revenue is generated from aviation activities and amounts to 45.7 million euros, but has decreased due to the discounts approved under the incentive scheme, which in 2024 amounted to 11.7 million euros.
Last year, the government approved the Financial Plan of Income and Expenditures for 2024, which projected that the company's profits would reach 40.43 million euros. The net result achieved in 2024 was 10.7 million euros, 12% higher than in the previous year, when the net profit was 9.6 million euros, the document notes.
20.3 million euros were spent on employee salaries, which represents a 13% increase compared to 2023, even though the number of employees in this state-owned company increased by only 2% last year.
The statement states that in 2024, the positive trend of increasing the number of aircraft and passengers at both airports continued, setting a new record with 2.88 million passengers.
Podgorica Airport welcomed 1,757,872 passengers and Tivat Airport welcomed 1,124,203 people. Flights on the Belgrade route accounted for 24.2% of all air traffic at Montenegrin airports. It was followed by Istanbul with 13.1% of the total, Vienna with 5.3% and London with 3.8%.
