"Overcome the political deadlock" - Business appeals to the political class: Kosovo needs functional institutions

The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has expressed concern about the delays in the constitution of the country's institutions, urging political parties to overcome the impasse and enable the formation of the Assembly and Government as soon as possible.
In a statement to the media, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DHTIK) assessed that the lack of functional institutions is creating uncertainty and causing further damage to the local economy and businesses. According to the Chamber, Kosovo needs functional institutions and decision-making, while another election cycle would further deepen uncertainty for the business community and the economy.
"The constitution of the Assembly and the formation of the Government are necessary also because of the large agenda that awaits the country in the economic field," the statement says.
The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry has emphasized that there is a large number of laws and issues that require changes, additions or new regulations. Among them are the Law on Internal Trade, the Law on Bankruptcy, the Law on Mines and Minerals, the Labor Law, the Law on Maternity Leave, VAT legislation, the Law on Public Property, the Law on Strategic Investments and the Law on Commercial Companies.
The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry has warned that these issues cannot remain blocked due to the lack of institutions, as businesses need legal certainty, predictable policies and relief from the administrative and fiscal burden. Also, according to this chamber, more support is needed for local production and investments, as well as the creation of a more favorable climate for economic development.
DHTIK has called on political parties to put the interests of the country and the economy above political differences, demanding the completion of the constitution process and the creation of institutions that function and take responsibility. “Kosovo needs functional institutions and decision-making, not another election cycle,” the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry statement states.
