Pensions in Kosovo to increase from November 1 - The incumbent government also

The acting government of Kosovo approved the Draft Budget for 2026 worth 4 billion euros, of which 1 billion euros are dedicated to capital investments.

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that this budget includes a number of innovations aimed at improving the well-being of citizens and strengthening the fiscal sustainability of the state. One of the main innovations, according to him, is the provision of the 13th salary to all public sector employees who have worked for at least 12 months during the year.

This budget also includes a 0.5% increase in the basic salary for each year of work experience, unlike the previous practice when for the first 15 years an increase of only 0.25% was applied for each year of experience. This, according to Kurti, translates into a significant increase in the salary for every employee in the public sector.

Kurti stressed that the draft budget for 2026 also foresees increases in pensions, child and maternity benefits, as well as additional payments for young people and women who engage through the “Superpuna” platform. It also includes the completion of the social assistance reform and increased support for families and groups in need.

According to the acting prime minister, from November, the minimum pension will increase from 120 to 150 euros, covering around 200 thousand pensioners in various categories, including those with disabilities and beneficiaries of family and disability pensions.

Good news, Kurti also praised the increase in child allowances by 50%, starting in November. "A mother with two children who has received 40 euros so far will receive 60 euros from next month. A mother with four children who has received 120 euros will receive 180 euros per month from November," Kurti said.

The Ministry of Finance has also proposed an increase in the minimum wage, which is expected to positively affect about 150 thousand employees in the private sector. The government approved its increase in two stages. From January 1, the minimum wage will be 425 euros, while from July 1, 2026 it will become 500 euros.

The acting Prime Minister said that it is now up to the Assembly and all MPs from all political entities to approve this budget before new elections are held, in order to ensure the continuity of the state and avoid situations where the state does not have an approved budget.
