Kosovo's exports increase - Trade with the EU and CEFTA expands

Data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics show that, although exports have increased by 15.7 percent on an annual basis, imports continue to dominate the country's foreign trade, with a value of 638.6 million euros.

"The export of goods in May 2026 was worth 94.1 million euros, while imports were worth 638.6 million euros, which is an increase of 15.7% for exports, as well as an increase of 5.6% for imports, compared to the same period in 2025," the announcement states.

ASK emphasizes that the main export groups are 27.5% basic metals and articles thereof; 11.1% plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 10.7% prepared foods, beverages and tobacco; 8.9% various manufactured articles; 8% mineral products; etc.

While according to data on the main import groups: 15.2% are mineral products, 12.6% are prepared foods, beverages and tobacco, 12% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 11.7% are means of transport; 10.8% are base metals and articles thereof; etc.

According to ASK, Kosovo's exports to EU countries amounted to 30.8 million euros, or about 32.7% of total exports, with an increase of 6.3%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (9.9%), Italy (4.9), the Netherlands (2.7%), etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU countries were around 301.3 million euros, or 47.2% of total imports, with an increase of 13.7%. The imports with the highest share were from: Germany (13.1%), Italy (8.8%), Poland (4.1%), etc.

Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries reached 43.1 million euros, or 45.7% of total exports, with an increase of 24.6%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries were: North Macedonia (16.4%), Albania (14.8%), Montenegro (6.6%), Serbia (6.4%), etc.

Imports from CEFTA countries reached 85.3 million euros, or 13.4% of total imports, with an increase of 22.5%. The countries with the highest share in imports were: North Macedonia (4.9%), Albania (4.1%), Serbia (3.2%).
