"It is paralyzing development" - German media analyzes the crisis in

After the failure of Albin Kurti's attempt to form a government, Kosovo is now facing a new phase of political uncertainty, writes the newspaper "Berliner Zeitung". According to the analysis of the German media, the failure in Kosovo can be seen as a symptom of a deeper political crisis. "For more than nine months, institutional blockades and internal party disputes have paralyzed the country. Many analysts believe that Kurti, who has governed the new Balkan state as prime minister since 2020, is the cause of this impasse. His stance, often uncompromising and confrontational towards political opponents, has continued to keep Vetëvendosje as the strongest political force in the country - despite losses - but at the same time has made it practically incapable of forming a coalition.

"Berliner Zeitung" also pays attention to the loss of trust of Kosovo's allies, recalling the closure of the strategic dialogue by Washington. "This is a dangerous development for Kosovo's fragile economy. The country, with 1.7 million inhabitants, is one of the poorest in Europe, with relatively high unemployment and a large youth exodus. Although economic conditions have improved in recent years, without foreign support, there is a risk of a massive drop in investment and a loss of the already weak confidence of international investors." The Berliner Zeitung analysis emphasizes that "the crisis also has a geopolitical dimension. The unstable situation in Kosovo is being closely monitored in Belgrade and, in some cases, commented on with glee."

"Frankfurter Rundschau" also pays attention to the political crisis in Kosovo, emphasizing that this blockade jeopardizes important decisions for Kosovo. "The ongoing government crisis is delaying key decisions: A budget for 2026 can hardly be reached on time, millions of euros in EU aid have been blocked. Analysts warn of growing economic losses for the young state, which has relied on international support since declaring independence in 2008. Although Kurti warned in parliament that without a new government every day "is a day lost for development, for the citizens, for the state," the German newspaper writes, Prime Minister Albin Kurti failed to form a government.
