Croatia "plants" 70 million euros for agriculture - In focus, the development of the agri-food sector and support for farmers

Croatia has opened a tender worth 70 million euros for projects related to the processing of agricultural products, aiming to strengthen the domestic food industry and support rural areas.
Of the total amount, 40 million euros are foreseen for investments in meat, egg and milk processing, while 30 million euros are planned for projects related to fruit processing, including olives and grape varieties, as well as vegetables, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Agriculture.
This fund comes at a time when Croatia is trying to increase self-production in the agri-food sector, especially after the supply chain crises that emerged during the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
"I believe that the support provided through this intervention will enable the creation of added value in agriculture, both for primary agricultural producers and for those who deal only with the processing of agricultural products," official sources announced.
Local processing of agricultural products is seen as a key step for the economic development of rural areas and increasing the competitiveness of Croatian products in international markets.
The call for tenders has been announced by the State Agency for Payments in Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, which, in cooperation with the ministry, implements support measures for farmers, financed by the state budget and the European Union. Applications for this call can be submitted until November 20.
The program also aims to promote the use of modern technologies in processing and packaging, reducing waste and increasing the quality of products for domestic and foreign consumers.
