Energy, expensive even for King Charles - The Sovereign has requested a reduction in consumption, especially for air conditioning
King Charles is facing rising energy costs. The residences at his disposal are numerous and maintaining living standards is becoming difficult. For this reason, the sovereign has asked everyone to be careful and limit consumption, especially with regard to air conditioning.
But how much does King Charles spend on the bills at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral and Highgrove House? The bills to pay are endless and King Charles is starting to worry. It is said that in 2024 he should have spent 2.2 million pounds on electricity, a significant increase compared to 1.3 million in 2023. Gas costs, on the other hand, are said to have decreased slightly (from 1.4 million pounds, to 1.2 million) but the total is still high.
Cost-cutting measures are very high according to King Charles, who has decided to curb spending. In winter he lowered the heating temperature to 19°C, while in summer he asked not to overdo it with the air conditioning. The water temperature in the royal swimming pool has also been lowered. In addition, some historic lighthouses were also turned off.
Ecological, but also environmental reasons behind King Charles' commitment to limiting energy consumption. Always very attentive to respecting the environment, the sovereign would also be concerned from this point of view. For this reason, it is said that he is implementing a large system of solar panels to meet electricity needs. The royal family is also considering other environmentally friendly measures, according to The Independent.
