Vlora Airport increases security with new technology - Albcontrol signs contract for advanced meteorological system
To increase safety and carry out operational operations at Vlora Airport, an integrated automatic meteorological system AWOS/ATIS should be installed, which aims to measure meteorological data in real time, control and verify them. Also, receiving data and processing them in the central AWOS system, as well as transmitting them to other interface systems according to certain formats and frequencies.
In the Public Procurement Bulletin, Albcontrol announces that a contract has been signed for the purchase and installation of the AWOS Meteorological System for the Akërnia stations. The winner of this contract is the company TBS 96 SHPK, with a value of 611,789 (six hundred and eleven thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine) Euros excluding VAT, which will enable the purchase and installation of the automatic meteorological system at Vlora Airport.
We remind you that IATA (International Air Transport Association) has assessed the application of Vlora International Airport in accordance with international standards and has assigned it the airport and ticketing code, VLO.
Meanwhile, on May 8, the first certification flight was carried out at Vlora International Airport. This airport will be the gateway to Southern Albania and the gateway to tourism development, which will operate with over 3 business models: civil aviation, aircraft maintenance and a proper cargo and will be expanded to 22 thousand square meters of terminal. With an area of 309 hectares, a 3.2 km runway and an investment of 140 million euros, the southern air gateway aims to give another boost to the development of the area, especially tourism in the country.
