British Airways reduces service to the Middle East - Operation to Abu Dhabi, closed until the end of the year

Airlines continue to respond to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. British Airways has announced that it is “temporarily reducing” services across the region. In an update issued on March 10, the company said it has canceled all flights to and from Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai and Tel Aviv “until the end of this month,” while services to and from Abu Dhabi have been canceled “until the end of this year.”
British Airways has operated a number of repatriation flights to help stranded passengers return home. Following the last repatriation services from Muscat, Oman, to London Heathrow on March 11 and 12, the flights "will be suspended due to reduced demand" and the airline will "keep the situation under constant review."
Oman Air is also operating additional flights in the region. Muscat International Airport in the Omani capital has been a key transit point, providing relief flights for passengers who were unable to depart from the United Arab Emirates due to ongoing regional airspace closures. Over the past week, Oman Air has operated almost 80 additional flights and “helped more than 97,000 passengers return home,” the company said.
However, Oman Air has confirmed that flights to and from Amman, Dubai, Bahrain, Doha, Dammam, Kuwait, Copenhagen, Baghdad and Khasab have been cancelled from March 9 to 15.
Emirates expects to return to full flight capacity in the "coming days" after the partial reopening of regional airspace in the United Arab Emirates. The Dubai-based carrier has been operating a reduced flight schedule.
Meanwhile, like all other airlines that have reduced flights to the region, Virgin Atlantic's seasonal service to Dubai has been completely suspended for the remainder of the winter season.
