Uncle: Next year, more projects for the social reuse of confiscated assets

Turning assets confiscated from crime into real opportunities for a safer future for victims of violence and trafficking remains one of the main priorities of the Seized and Confiscated Assets Administration Agency, AAPSK.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Albana Koçiu, and the Chief Administrator of AAPSK, Risena, visited one of the most significant examples of this initiative: a facility profited from criminal activity, which today functions as a safe haven for victims of violence and human trafficking.

This model proves that illegally obtained assets can be returned to the service of society, transforming into concrete support for the most vulnerable categories.

By 2025, over 15 similar projects had been implemented, more than 20 institutions had been supported, and around 300 victims of violence and trafficking had been directly assisted, through protection, rehabilitation and reintegration services.

During the visit, Chief Administrator Xhaja emphasized that "putting confiscated assets into social use is one of the most significant ways to return to society the value of assets obtained from criminal activity. Through projects like this shelter of the "different, equal" organization, these assets do not simply remain in financial administration, but are transformed into real spaces of support, integration and dignity for groups in need. Collaborations with civil society organizations, international partners and local institutions are very important to turn this vision into concrete results for the community and to expand such models," said Xhaja.

The Chief Administrator of AAPSK emphasized that the institution she leads aims to further expand such collaborations and one of the main objectives for 2026 will be to increase the number of such projects.

Minister Koçiu stated that these assets represent a real opportunity to be turned into social and public services for the benefit of the community.

She emphasized that the facility visited, a two-story villa, creates opportunities for the "Different, Equal" association to provide services for women and children who are victims of domestic violence or trafficking.

The Minister underlined that institutions will continue to work to return any illegally obtained assets to the service of the community, following all legal procedures.
