Albanians "abandon" the clutch/ New vehicles, about 66% of them have

While overall, vehicles with manual transmissions account for about 56.2% of the total, compared to those with automatic or semi-automatic transmissions, in recent years, the trend seems to be reversing this ratio. 2024 data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services (DPSHTRR) shows that the number of vehicles registered for the first time by transmission is in favor of vehicles with automatic transmissions.

The ratio is fixed at around 66%, while the weight of vehicles registered for the first time with manual transmission is fixed at around 33%, or around 32 thousand registrations. This gap seems to not only be narrowing, but will go in the opposite direction, reflecting the progress of recent years.

"Scan Intel" has analyzed the figures of the last five years to see the trend through the numbers. In 2019, around 27 thousand new vehicles with manual transmission and 23 thousand with automatic transmission were registered. The figures were in favor of the "clutch" also in 2020, while in 2021, 2022 and onwards, the ratio was reversed by the higher number of registrations of vehicles with automatic transmission.

The total number of registrations for 2024 is estimated at 99,441 vehicles, of which about 83 thousand are cars. On the other hand, there are about 959 thousand active vehicles in our country.
