Survey on safety and trust in the State Police: 82% of respondents feel “safe” or “very safe”
The Ministry of Interior today presented a survey funded by the Swedish government, to measure citizen perception of the level of security in our country and trust in the State Police.
This completely independent survey, conducted for the sixth time at the initiative and under the supervision of the Swedish government, aims to measure the level of satisfaction with the work of the State Police.
The methodology of this survey is based on the "European Social Survey", allowing for comparisons with other countries.
Auron Pasha, Founder and Executive Director of “IDRA Research & Consulting” said in his speech that “this is a national survey with a sample of 1900 adults aged 18 and over. This survey gives us the opportunity to have comparisons both over the years and between different countries. The survey was conducted in the period October-November”.
Presenting the results related to the sense of security that citizens have, to the question 'how safe do you feel when walking alone in your neighborhood after dark', Pasha said that "82% of respondents said they are 'safe' or 'very safe' in their neighborhood at night. If we make a comparison with 2013, we see an increasing trend in this sense of security."
According to him, about 22% of respondents say they worry about becoming a victim of a crime (sometimes 18% or all the time 3%). Meanwhile, almost 78% worry "never" or "rarely".
Meanwhile, according to the survey, he said that 82% of respondents say they will be caught and punished if they violate traffic rules, and about 17% think that this is unlikely to happen.
"About 53% say they are dissatisfied with the way they have been treated by the police, while almost 35% of respondents say they are satisfied with the way they have been treated by the police," said Pasha.
Also, according to this survey, 65% of respondents say that the State Police is doing a good or very good job, 27% are neutral and 8% assess it poorly.
