"Scan Intel" has analyzed the figures regarding lending during January of the current year, to understand which segments of the private sector have relied more on banks operating in our country for financing during this period. In first place, the sector that has received the most loans during the first month of the year is trade, both wholesale and retail, which also includes the repair of vehicles and motorcycles. This sector has received about 8.1 billion lek of new loans during January, which translates into about 81 million euros. Even during 2024, this sector was in first place, official figures indicate. In second place, meanwhile, we find the processing industry with 2.1 billion lek, followed by other service activities with 1.7 billion lek.
New construction loans, meanwhile, are estimated at 1.6 billion lek, ranking this sector in fourth place for January of the current year.
New credit for the manufacturing industry, but also for trade, has increased significantly, compared to the same period in previous years, but the same has not happened for construction. In January, new credit for construction recorded the lowest value of the same period in the last three years. Meanwhile, compared to January 2024, the decline is estimated at 47%.
On the other hand, the growth in new credit for trade and manufacturing is recorded at 17% and 67% respectively, compared to January 2024. The highest growth was recorded in activities such as the arts, professional, financial and insurance activities, and transportation and storage.
As for the sectors that received the least new loans during January, compared to the same month last year, in last place, we find the extractive industry, education, and agriculture, with a decrease of 98%, 89%, and 52% respectively.
