Throughout the year 2024, specifically from the month of February onwards, inflation has been presented below the 3% rate. The parameters regarding the average rate have been acceptable throughout the year and expectations for the year 2025 are that inflation will stay within the limits of 3%.

The average rate of inflation throughout the year 2024 is estimated at 2.2%, however, if we analyze the groups in detail, we see some of them have experienced a high rate of price increase.

The groups that have recorded the highest inflation are "Entertainment and Culture" with an average rate for 2024 of 4.1%, followed by "Furniture, home appliances and home maintenance" with 3.8%.

What is worrying is the still high rate of price increase for the food group and some of the main subgroups. The average rate of inflation for the food group in terms of the January-November period of this year is estimated at around 2.6%.

In this group, vegetables, including potatoes, recorded the highest price increase, with an average growth rate of 6.3% in 2024. This trend has been presented month after month. In January, inflation for this group was recorded at 16.4%, to mark a softening in the month of February and in the following months. June is estimated to have marked the lowest rate of price increase for the group of greens due to the season, while the months of September, October and November had upward trends.

Specifically, in the month of November, the price of tomatoes for one kilogram is estimated at 151.8 ALL, referring to official data. On the other hand, a kilogram of cucumbers cost 124.4 Lek on average, while a kilogram of peppers cost about 138.7 Lek. As for potatoes, the price for one kilogram is recorded at 89.9 ALL

From July to November, the price of tomatoes per kg has increased by almost 50 ALL.

Inflation is also high for meat, fish and dairy. In November, the price of meat per kg varied from 1,195 ALL to 1,229 ALL, while the price of fresh fish, according to the data, is estimated at 817 ALL per kg.

As for dairy, the price in November for a kg of white cheese was on average 946 Lek, while for Kačkavall cheese it was about 1,209 Lek. A liter of milk was bought by consumers for 156 Lek, while one kg of butter was about 1,089 Lek.
