How much money will go to the army in 2025? More than half of the defense budget

Based on the draft budget of 2025, this year the "Ministry of Defense" will have available 52.7 billion ALL or 4.4 billion ALL more than last year. This increase in the fund is also reflected in the weight of the budget dedicated to this ministry compared to the GDP. This year the fund represents 2.01% of GDP, while in the draft budget of 2024 it was 2% of GDP.

But how will the "Ministry of Defense" allocate this money, according to the main voices? In the published draft budget, it is predicted that the priority will be the fighting force, for which more than half of the total fund is expected to be spent, or in absolute value it translates into 28.8 billion ALL and 8.3 billion ALL will go to support the fighting. Equally important are the items "social support for the military" and "civil emergencies" which account for 9.9% and 10.4% of the total fund dedicated to this ministry. In contrast, only 1.5 billion ALL or 3% of the total will be distributed to planning and management.

The Ministry of Defense aims to fulfill the initiated reforms and the realization of the constitutional duties of the Armed Forces (AF), international commitments within NATO, commitments of the FA within the regional framework and the training capabilities of the FA itself.

The main objectives set by the "Ministry of Defense" indicate that this fund will be allocated to modernize the capacities and infrastructure of the armed forces, through the development of the capacities of the FA according to the Long-Term Development Plan, Supplying the Ground Forces with modern weaponry and suitable for cooperation with NATO allies.

It is also intended to increase investments in infrastructure for the improvement of work environments and military facilities, including the modernization of equipment and computer systems.

Another priority is the expansion of participation in NATO operations, increasing the involvement of the Armed Forces in Alliance operations and participation in new missions that NATO may initiate.

In order to have successful missions, work will be done to develop and keep in readiness the capacities for defensive and collective operations, in order to respond to crises and civil emergencies, as well as a part of the funds will go to providing assistance to the countries of the region in the framework of NATO, the UN and the EU.

As before, human resources will be at the attention of the Ministry of Defense to raise the image and integrity of the military, through policies for personnel development, career promotion, fair treatment of military personnel, increased transparency and accountability, as and the elimination of corruption within the Armed Forces.
