New business registrations increased by 7.2% in the third quarter. We exceeded the European average

The third quarter of 2025 brought developments in Europe's economic performance. According to published data, new business registrations in EU countries increased by 4% compared to the second quarter. However, the picture was not entirely positive, as bankruptcies outpaced this pace, increasing by 4.4% in the same period.
Business registrations increased across all sectors of the economy. The strongest performance was recorded in the information and communication sector (+6%), followed by construction (+5.9%) and transportation (+5.5%).
In our country, the dynamics were even stronger. Albania recorded a 7.2% increase in business registrations compared to the same period a year ago. If compared to the previous quarter, the growth reaches almost 10%, indicating a stable climate for the opening of new economic initiatives.
Among the countries in the region, Albania results in positive performance, while Montenegro marked a slight decrease of 0.3% from last year.
At the European level, the countries that led with the most new business registrations were Estonia, Luxembourg and Denmark. Meanwhile, Cyprus, Austria and Finland showed a slowdown.
European bankruptcy data for the third quarter of 2025 presented a mixed picture. In total, growth was recorded in 5 sectors, while 3 sectors experienced declines.
The accommodation and food sector had the highest increase in bankruptcies at +20.7%, followed by transportation (+18.7%) and financial services (+14.1%), a signal that economic pressures are strongly affecting certain industries.
These data show that, although new economic initiatives are increasing, uncertainties and high costs continue to keep bankruptcy rates high.
