Professionals gain ground in the labor market/ The representation of managers

The Albanian labor market underwent changes during 2025, showing a gradual shift in employment towards higher-skilled occupations. According to the data, the share of managers, professionals and technicians reached 22.5% of the total number of employees, up from 20.5% a year earlier.

The group of white-collar, sales and service workers also recorded a slight increase, moving from 18.1% to 18.5% of total employment. In contrast, skilled workers in agriculture and trade-related occupations continue to constitute the largest group in the labor market, but their share fell from 47.5% to 45.3%.

A decline was also observed in equipment and machinery assembly workers, who fell from 8% to 7%, while elementary occupations increased slightly, from 5.4% to 6.2%. The share of the armed forces remained very low, but marked a slight increase from 0.4% to 0.6%.

Data by gender show that men continue to dominate in occupations related to agriculture and trade, although their share in this category fell from 50.5% to 47.2%. Meanwhile, the share of men in managerial and technical occupations increased from 18.3% to 19.5%.

For women, the increase was even more pronounced in managerial, professional and technical occupations, where the share increased from 23.2% to 26.1%. Women also continue to have a high representation in administration, sales and services, while their share in agriculture fell from 44% to 42.9%.

Overall, the employment structure in 2025 shows a slow shift of the workforce towards occupations with higher skills and qualifications, while the share of employment in traditional sectors, especially in agriculture, continued to shrink.
