Entertainment and "vices" cost more in February/ The inflation rate remains at 1.9%, but some groups register significant growth

Inflation in the country for February has maintained the same rate of 1.9% that was recorded in the first month of the current year. However, despite this, the data show that some groups have undergone significant changes regarding this indicator.
If we talk about the contribution of the main groups, the data speak of an unchanged situation, where with a negative impact we find only transport with 0.14 percentage points. The annual increase in prices in February was mainly influenced by the group "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with 0.97 percentage points, followed by the group "Furniture, household appliances and home maintenance" with 0.27 percentage points.
If we move on to the annual changes of the groups, we see that compared to February 2024, the largest price increase is observed in the "Entertainment and culture" group with 6.5%, followed by the "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" groups with 4.5%. This is the highest value for these two groups in the time frame of one year.
The group “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance” followed with an increase of 3.6%, “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” and “Clothing and footwear” with 2.8% each, “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 1.8%, “Miscellaneous goods and services” with 1.4%, “Communication” with 1.2%, “Educational services” with 0.9%, “Health” with 0.6%, “Rent, water, fuel and energy” with 0.4%. On the other hand, the prices of the “Transport” group decreased by 2.2%.
Within the food group, the prices of the subgroup "meat" increased by 4.0%, followed by the subgroups "vegetables including potatoes" by 3.2%, "milk, cheese and eggs" by 2.8%, "sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets" by 1.7%, "fish" by 1.1%, etc.
