The coastline of Durrës will be expanded - Investment 583 million lek for the rehabilitation of the beach and the increase of tourism
The Albanian Development Fund has opened the tender for intervention in urban regeneration, marine protection in the coastal area, with the object of reprofiling and filling with sand the coastline from the Dajlani Bridge to the building of Kavalishence, Durrës. The estimated value of this project is 583 million and 323 thousand ALL.
The coast of Durrës in the South of the Port up to the end of the new promenade has a sandy beach that is not of significant size, to serve for the growth and development of tourism.
According to the document published in the Public Procurement Agency, the project development area is divided into 3 parts. An investment known as Durrës Yaht Marina is being developed in the area of the Port of Durrës, which aims to create a new coastal area. Near this investment, the sandy area of the sea coast is very reduced and has a width of 15 to 20 m. While on the other part of the coast from Hawai Beach Bar to the end of the promenade near the small Iliria runway, we have a width of the sea coast from 15-20 m at the beginning to 40-50 m near the Iliria runway.
This beach area near the promenade cannot fully play the role of supporting tourist tourism, therefore it needs a re-profiling and sand filling of the coastline, the document states.
In order to improve the situation, giving this area a new, modern and attractive look from a tourist point of view, it is planned that this coastline will be widened with an average width of about 100 m starting from the border of the new promenade. This expansion will also reconfigure the coastline by making it uniform.
According to the published document, the objective is the complete rehabilitation of a strip with an extension of about 3168 meters along the area, which will be achieved through works at sea for the reconstruction of the morphology of the beach, which will be carried out through an artificial replenishment of the beach and the creation of a structure to separate the development area of the Durrës Yaht Marina project and the public beach area from the Dajlani Bridge to the Kavalishence Building.
