"Climate Change Funding Cuts" - Trump's Decision, Qirjo: Slows

The withdrawal of the United States of America from the Climate Agreement slows down global processes, but there are still a number of other factors that will advance efforts towards achieving the objectives set to curb climate change.

Environmental and climate expert Mihallaq Qirjo comments on President Donald Trump's decision for TV SCAN, taking into account that Albania has also signed the Paris Agreement, and has undertaken a series of commitments to reduce CO2 emissions.

However, the US will continue to be part of the Paris Agreement for the next 4 years, as an obligation imposed on signatory states.

Qirjo also pointed out that many states within the US also have a number of policies regarding climate change that are not affected by Trump's decision.

The Paris Agreement is an international legally binding treaty on climate change by the signatory countries. To achieve the objectives, the European Green Deal was drafted, which is a long-term development strategy of the EU countries, which aims to prevent climate change, with the main goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Meanwhile, to achieve the latter, countries in the region, including Albania, signed the Sofia Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
