Mountain tourism, new electricity network in Bogë - EBRD opens tender, part of the EU Infrastructure and Tourism project
The village of Bogë in Malësia e Madhe is considered one of the most attractive mountain tourist destinations, while the increase in visitor interest has increased the need for the construction of a new electricity network.
In this context, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has opened the tender for the company that will implement the works, as part of the project for the construction of a new distribution network to increase access to electricity in the Albanian Alps.
The opening of this tender comes 1 week after the signing of the contract worth 2.3 million euros, which also focuses on investments in the electricity network in the Alpine area. Interventions in the electricity network in the Albanian Alps will be carried out within the framework of the Infrastructure and Tourism project in Albania.
The project is financed by the European Union through technical assistance and investment grants, in the amount of 40 million euros, as well as from the additional sovereign loan provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development of 60 million euros. This project is implemented by the Albanian Development Fund.
Investments in the electricity sector in areas with tourist potential have been in the spotlight recently, taking into account the increased load on the electricity grid due to the increase in the number of users.
While most of these investments have been concentrated in coastal areas, the potential offered by the north of the country in terms of tourism development has stimulated the need for investments in these areas as well.
