Albania-Kosovo energy market - Volumes in ALPEX reached 1.95 mln mWh. Transaction value, 270 mln euros

The volumes of energy traded on the Albanian Electricity Exchange increased during 2025, compared to the previous year.
According to data processed by TV SCAN, during the year just left behind, around 1.95 million mWh of energy was traded through this instrument, out of 1.25 million mWh that was traded during 2024. 51% of this amount belongs to the bidding zone of Albania, while the rest to Kosovo, showing almost equal volumes of energy for the 2 countries.
As for the average price at which energy is traded, it ranges from 90.74 euros/mWh, which is the lowest price recorded in April, to 162.75 euros/mWh, which is the highest recorded in February. The average price for the 12-month period is estimated at around 117 euros/mWh.
Meanwhile, ALPEX has also reported the figures for the Intraday Auction Market, which began to develop in December 2024. Thus, for the period January - December, a total volume of almost 24,000 mWh of electricity was traded on this ALPEX market, with an average clearing price of 150 euros/mWh.
Referring to this data, it results that the transaction value amounts to around 270 million euros, 226.5 million of which for the day-ahead market.
The Albanian Electricity Exchange, ALPEX, began operations on April 11, 2023, while its operation presents a number of advantages related to competitive prices, as well as providing a transparent price signal for energy investments. The challenge, however, remains to increase the volumes traded through this instrument.
