Taxes collect 408 million euros in April - Exceeding the plan by 12 million euros. Impact, anti-informality

The tax administration has significantly increased revenues during the month of April 2026. Referring to preliminary data published by this institution, during the month just left, tax revenues were recorded at 40.8 billion lek or about 408 million euros, exceeding by about 3.2% compared to the same month a year ago.
Specifically, the increase compared to April 2025 is estimated at 1.2 billion lek, while there is a significant excess of the planning made for this month, at 2.8 billion lek.
Tax revenues include revenues from domestic net VAT, profit tax, personal income tax, and national taxes, which have had positive performance during this period.
The main factors driving income growth are related to economic growth, higher business activity, and increased consumption.
Personal income tax is another item with a significant weight in tax revenues, which reflects the increased salaries of the administration and the private sector as well as the positive effects that the anti-informality reform has had in this regard. The campaign for electronic invoicing and numerous field controls have contributed to the formalization and increase of tax revenues. On the other hand, the submission of the Individual Income Tax Declaration, DIVA 2025, has also had an impact on the increase, causing citizens who had obligations to pay them.
Revenues from special funds, social and health insurance, collected by the Tax Administration, have seen a significant increase month after month, which also reflects the wage increase reform and the one against their under-declaration.
While the increase in the minimum wage from January 1, 2026 to 50 thousand lekë has also had a significant impact.
