Artificial intelligence for scanning invoices in tourism - How the process will

At the start of the tourist season, accommodation structures, bars and restaurants will be targeted by the tax administration for monitoring the issuance of fiscal invoices, with the aim of reducing informality in this sector and increasing revenues.

For the first time, the tax administration will use artificial intelligence to achieve this goal.

Referring to the tax administration's sectoral plan focused on the tourism sector, the system automatically filters food/environment photos and focuses only on photos with fiscal receipts, thus saving 80% of analysis time and resources.

Initially, the system searches for businesses through Google Maps and downloads photos, then quickly detects through Artificial Intelligence whether it is an invoice or not, in the second phase it moves to the deep classification of the QR Code, which connects the invoice with the General Directorate of Taxes system, the Invoice Issuance Serial Number (NSLF), as well as the Tax Transaction Identification Number, and finally a report is compiled with 5 analytical sheets for suspected businesses.

A business becomes suspect and classified as issuing unfiscalized invoices if one of the above elements is missing.

Within the framework of the implementation of this plan, the Tax Administration aims to apply targeted controls, based on risk analysis; Require accurate and complete declaration of income; Monitor the declaration of employees engaged in the activity, as well as the implementation of indicative salaries as an element in the assessment of tax risk and Verify the correct implementation of electronic invoicing for each service provided.
