Taxes and customs collect 672 million euros in July - Revenues increase. Impact, expansion of consumption and anti-informality

The month of July has significantly increased tax and customs revenues in the country. According to preliminary data, the revenues collected during July by the two main tax administration institutions recorded a positive performance, exceeding both the plan set for the month and the level achieved in July last year.
Specifically, according to data from the tax administration, total net revenues in July 2026 reached 42.4 billion lek. This result is 1.6 billion lek, or 3.9%, above the plan set for July 2026.
Compared to July 2025, revenues are 5.1 billion lek higher, with an increase of 13.8%.
The performance of customs revenues is also in line. According to data published by the General Directorate of Customs, 23.5 billion lek were collected in July 2026, about 223 million lek more than in the same month of 2025.
The increase in customs revenues is mainly based on all items, with the highest increase recorded by VAT on imports. Specifically, +108 million lek were collected from Value Added Tax; +51 million lek from mining royalties; +48 million lek from net excise duty; and +19 million lek from customs duties.
Data shows that VAT has made the largest contribution to the increase in customs collections, followed by mineral royalties and excise duties.
The two institutions together have collected 65.9 billion lek or about 672 million euros in July alone.
Overall, July figures signal a better performance in public revenue collection compared to the plan and July 2025, as a result of increased consumption due to the summer season, but on the other hand, they also reflect the strengthening of formalization, the fight against tax evasion, and the improvement of tax and customs administration.
