How will the 8.5 billion euros of the budget be distributed in 2026? - Health, education, infrastructure and defense occupy the most important weight

The 2026 budget is the highest ever allocated at around 823 billion lek or 8.5 billion euros. But how will the funds be distributed?
Referring to the draft budget approved by the government and submitted for discussion in the Assembly, for next year, priority sectors such as health and social protection, infrastructure and energy, education, and the military will be among the most funded.
Specifically, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare receives the largest share of the "budgetary pie", approximately 82.5 billion lek in 2026, which, in addition to the salaries of white-collar workers, also includes the investments foreseen in this sector.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy will have a budget of 77.2 billion lek, focusing mostly on investments in various road and railway projects.
The Ministry of Education has been allocated a budget of 64.8 billion lek, which includes salaries for teachers as well as anticipated investments in this sector.
The Ministry of Defense also has a significant share in the budget, with a total budget of around 59 billion lek, most of which goes to the combat forces and in fulfillment of Albania's obligation within NATO for a budget above 2% of GDP.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation will have a budget of 41.7 billion lek, where the most important weight is held by payments for pensioners and social benefits, while a significant figure of 5 million euros goes to investments in secondary vocational education.
A considerable budget of 35.7 billion lek also goes to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which includes the salaries of the State Police and the Republic Guard.
16.2 billion lek will go to the Ministry of Agriculture, where the majority of the allocated funds go to support farmers, increase production and export.
The Ministry of Justice will receive a budget of 14.9 billion lek; the Ministry of Finance will have a budget of 12.5 billion euros, the Ministry of Tourism 7.4 billion lek, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs 3.7 billion lek and the Ministry of Environment 3.2 billion lek.
Almost all ministries have had additional funds compared to last year, while a significant budget reduction was made for the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, given that the Ministry of Culture was abolished.
