Members added to the Albanian Electricity Exchange - Market developments, the number of entities listed on ALPEX reaches 36
About 2 years after the start of operations, the Albanian Electricity Exchange has 36 companies listed for the day-ahead market. The data is reported by ALPEX, showing the performance of the organized energy market. The companies carry out purchase and sale transactions for the 2 bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo, following the merger of the markets that took place in February 2024.
According to ALPEX, these companies are registered for transactions carried out for the day-ahead market, while 11 of them are also registered for the intraday auction market. The operation of the Intraday Auction Market between Albania and Kosovo as a market union began in December 2024, after day-ahead auctions were held until then.
ALPEX itself considered the launch of same-day auctions an achievement and an important step forward in the regional electricity market, strengthening cross-border trade and market integration.
The operation of the exchange presents a number of advantages, related to competitive prices, as well as providing a transparent price signal for energy investments. Meanwhile, increasing the number of members is also a request of the Energy Community Secretariat.
