Albania, first in Europe for tourist flows - Kumbaro: 136% increase. Confirms the success of the Albanian tourism model
Even in the first quarter of 2025, Albania ranked first in Europe in terms of international tourist arrivals.
According to data from the United Nations report, which was published in Baku, Azerbaijan, during the 71st meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe, where Albania participated as a full member, our country once again leads in the growth of tourist flows.
Compared to the pre-pandemic period, i.e. 2019, Albania has had a 136% increase in international tourist arrivals, the United Nations report states.
In a post on social media, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro expressed that this is another international confirmation of the success of the Albanian tourism model, based on the vision of sustainable tourism, which was also the focus of discussions during the meeting of the Commission for Europe as part of the Baku Declaration, and Albania was there, not only to listen, but to share its experience as an inspiring success story.
Our country is ranked among the 10 tourist destinations that are performing better in 2025. In the list published by UN Tourism, after Albania are the Republic of Moldova with a 76% increase in tourist flows compared to 2019, Malta, Norway, Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, San Marino. Albania has also left behind countries like Greece or Portugal, which have been the tourist poles of Europe for years.
