Albania-EU, new partnership for Security and Defense - Increased cooperation against cyber risks, or terrorism
Recently, the European Union and Albania approved a new partnership for security and defense. This new political framework creates a platform for enhanced dialogue and cooperation on security and defense issues, reflecting the determination of both sides to work together to solve common security challenges in an increasingly complex global environment.
Citizens in both the EU and Albania will benefit from this strengthened partnership, promoting peace, stability and security. The newly adopted Security and Defense Partnership builds on this strong foundation, paving the way for increased cooperation in key areas including crisis management, support to Ukraine, countering hybrid threats, cyber security, capacity building and training, countering terrorism and external aspects of integrated border management.
This cooperation further expands security and defense issues, reflecting the determination of both sides to work together to solve common security challenges in an increasingly complex global environment. Russia's ongoing, unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine underscores the critical importance of unity and close cooperation within the EU, as well as with its closest partners.
Albania is a candidate to join the European Union and has long been a valuable and trusted partner in the fields of security and defense. As such, it is also actively contributing to EU Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) missions and operations.
