How many businesses do Albania's beaches have in their "hands"? - 699 thousand umbrellas at the service of vacationers, 17 million euros in turnover in 2024
The number of tourist entities that pay the fee for occupying public beaches has increased over the past year.
Referring to data from the National Coastal Agency on entities equipped with contracts for the use of beach space for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 tourist seasons, it is noted that last year there were 817 taxpayer businesses.
Meanwhile, the number of taxpayers for 2022 was 696 and for 2023, it increased to 799.
The specific weight according to the type of activity of taxpayers who are beneficiaries of public spaces on beaches is divided into several categories, where the most important item is that of hotels and similar structures with 23%.
Meanwhile, 23% are occupied by beverage service activities; 19% are in the Restaurants and mobile food service sector and 14% are in the other activities other than tourism.
Regarding the data reported on the turnover of entities for the period June-August, a significant increase results. In 2023 compared to 2022, there is an increase of 24%. In 2024 compared to 2023, the increase is 10%.
During 2024 alone, the turnover from beach billing will reach 17 million euros.
For the period June-August 2024, the number of umbrellas was approximately 699 thousand. The number of invoices with the description umbrella/sunbed is 402,120.
From rough and indicative data calculations, it is found that entities contracted by the National Coastal Agency have issued an average of 5.5 fiscalized tax invoices per day.
From an analysis of the activity of entities that benefit from public spaces on beaches and the billing of items such as umbrellas and sun loungers, it results that the largest share is occupied by restaurants and mobile food service with 32%, followed by hotels and similar structures with 28%.
