New road in the Lundë/Rama area: Urban transformation continues, facilitating access to residential areas
The urban transformation of various areas of the country has included both the infrastructure of the main roads, such as the southeastern part that connects the Lundra area, the extended community of Tirana, the Tirana-Elbasan Highway, and the Unazë e Madhe, which passes near several residential areas and is sometimes bordered by agricultural plots and sometimes by residential or business buildings.
The construction of this road with all the elements of road and urban infrastructure is done with the aim of improving the quality of life of the community of this area and creating access to other roads in the city. This road will also serve as a connecting road between the TEG area and Elbasan Road on one side with a series of other tertiary roads, residential complexes, schools and businesses.
Prime Minister Edi Rama was today at the construction site where work is ongoing on this road, together with the deputy mayor of the municipality, Anuela Ristani, where he praised the work done, while emphasizing that there will be other projects to expand public spaces in the service of the community.
"All axes are important, they serve connections with the highway, also due to the fact that highways if they do not have these axes, are not helpful, as they should be for those who live near them, but who are far from them because they do not have access. On the other hand, highways cannot be accessed as was usually done before, "come in, build on the side of the road and turn 90 degrees", which made the roads like corridors with rooms and apartments on the sides, so these roads are strategic and are very important and the work that has been done is very good", said Rama.
The head of government stated that "we have a project to expand the entire Durrës beach by 100 meters, meaning that we will actually start it now, then we will have a moment of interruption, perhaps during the season, or we will divide it into segments and do it from side to side, because in fact the whole debate has been "with sand supply from the land or from the sea" and the preference is for it to be mainly from the sea, also for reasons of sustainability. Yes, it is very important and I believe that in 1 year we will achieve it. Yes, it is an extraordinary expansion because firstly, it will make the beach 100 meters wider, secondly, it will create the opportunity for us to create another pedestrian area, but also to create another living space, a new strip with services and the whole thing that has been created in those years will be transformed".
Deputy Mayor Anuela Ristani said that "connecting communities that are sometimes very close to major infrastructure, such as the Tirana - Elbasan highway, but that often have a longer journey than those that are further away. So, the whole concept here is to connect this area, which is a developing area, with the main infrastructure and that will relieve a large part of the traffic that is created in this whole node here, from the TEG roundabout and onwards" .
This road will significantly ease movement on the State Reserve Road, the traffic on which has become extremely heavy due to the significant increase in residential complexes, businesses and educational institutions in this area.
