The road axis leading to the Dry Lake is expected to undergo a complete rehabilitation. The Municipality of Tirana has opened the tender with a limit fund of 122.5 million lek, or 1.25 million euros, which aims not only to asphalt a depreciated segment of over 1 kilometer, but also to transform the entire surrounding urban infrastructure.

According to the Technical Report, the works will be carried out from the road that starts from the Zoo and ends at the roundabout of the “Hiqmet Buzi” road. The 1,150-meter segment has been of variable width, with damaged tracks and significant problems with potholes, potholes and lack of urban standards.

The technical design has been completed, while the works include the construction of a 4-layer road structure from scratch, a 4 cm final asphalt, a 6 cm binder layer, a 15 cm stabilizer and a 30 cm ballast layer – all calculated according to the international AASHTO methodology for a lifespan of over 20 years and to withstand heavy urban traffic.

New sidewalks will be placed on both sides of the road up to the 775th station and on one side for the rest, with aesthetic stamped concrete and protective curbs. Spaces will also be created for urban transport stops and new vertical and horizontal signage according to the Albanian Road Code.

For the first time, the road will be equipped with a new sewage system for rainwater and wastewater, calculated with the "Manning" hydraulic method, guaranteeing flood resistance and improved drainage in an area that previously suffered from waterlogging.

The entire route was designed with the professional software "AutoCAD Civil 3D", while precision tools such as drones with RTK systems, professional GPS and total stations were used for topographic surveying, enabling a precise engineering project.
