Online applications for Albanian passports increase - 9.2% in total in 2025 via e-Albania
Applying for a passport and identity card is now possible online through e-Albania, even for Albanians residing abroad.
According to figures published by e-Albania, since 2016, 742,969 online applications have been processed. From January to August 2025, 53,408 applications were processed, or 9.2% more than the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, for the period January to August 2024, 48,887 applications are processed.,
During the application, citizens choose the date and time of the meeting at the Embassy or Consulate in the country where they live. After the successful completion of the application, citizens will be notified by e-mail regarding the payment details and the documentation that they must have with them on the day of the meeting. According to e-Albania, a citizen is re-issued with a passport before the expiration of the validity period of the existing passport in cases where he/she travels or temporarily stays in countries that condition entry or stay with a certain period of passport validity; when the components of the civil status change; when the passport has been filled in with official notes; when the passport has been physically damaged; when the passport has been declared lost, as well as when the passport has been reported stolen.
