Port of Durres, over 2 million tons of goods in 7 months - Bajraktari: 30% more

In the 7-month period of this year, over 2 million tons of goods were processed at the quays of the Port of Durres, registering an increase of 6.3% compared to the same period last year.

In an interview with Scan TV, the General Director of the Durrës Port Authority, Kreshnik Bajraktari, stated that this increase translates into around 138 thousand tons more processed goods, a clear indicator of the port's consolidated role in the national and regional supply chain. But what are the figures regarding imports at the Port of Durrës?

"Regarding imports, and not only imports but also exports, data and statistics from the Durrës Port Authority show that around 1.76 tons of goods have entered Albania, and around 537 thousand tons of goods have been exported to international markets. During this period, we have a 30% increase in imports, which reflects the increased demand of the domestic market, and the strengthening of the position of the Port of Durrës, as a logistics and trade center, not only at the national level, but also in the region."

Given that we are at the end of the tourist season, there are also positive figures in passenger arrivals and departures through this port.

"In the passenger processing sector, at the Port of Durres, we have an increase of about 4%. In total, during this period January-July 2025, about 350 thousand passengers were processed, where it is worth highlighting the high number of passengers who have arrived at the port of Durres, which is about 195 thousand passengers, and the number of passengers who have traveled from the port of Durres, towards neighboring countries, is about 157 thousand passengers."

Even in the container processing sector, the Port of Durres has recorded growth, where according to Bajraktari, 128 thousand container units were processed during this period, recording an average increase of 9% compared to the same period in 2024. According to him, this indicator reflects not only the increase in the flow of goods, but also the development of logistics services and the operational efficiency of the port.
